4th EPATH Hybrid Conference:
Reconnecting and Redefining Transgender Care
EPATH hosted their fourth European conference on transgender health, entitled ‘Reconnecting and Redefining Transgender Care‘ from 11-13 of August 2021 in Göthenburg, Sweden. The EPATH programme featured 17 global opinion-leading scientists delivering plenary lectures, 13 round-tables covering the most salient topics in current transgender health, 162 oral and poster presentations.
EPATH hosted a free public event as part of the EPATH conference, in which keynote speakers Martin den Heijer (Amsterdam UMC), Timo Nieder (University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf) and Joz Motmans (Ghent University Hospital), Jorgé María Londoño (TGEU) and Jêran Rostam (RFSL Ungdom) presented actual challenges in the academic, clinical and policy domains of transgender health care.
After two years since the 2019 conference, and a pandemic which made human interactions and conferences go virtual to a large extend, we wished to truly reconnect with known and new colleagues. It was also a time for redefining transgender healthcare, based on new insights, new health protocols and developing social and legal settings. The conference was – as always – centered around the broad spectrum of transgender health, including social and legal aspects. EPATH continues to seek fostering European knowledge, clinical skills, education, and human rights in transgender health.
