Guidelines for participants

This page is for all accepted participants to the EPATH Summer School.

To ensure that all masterclasses run smoothly and that participants benefit fully from each other’s work, please read the following guidelines carefully. The instructions apply to all presenters and are designed to help you prepare your research proposal or case study, as well as your oral presentation.

Research Proposal Requirements

 

All presenters submitting a research proposal must adhere to the following criteria:

 

  • Length and formatting: 
    • Maximum length: 5 pages
    • Double-spaced
    • Arial, size 12
    • Standard margins (2.5 cm recommended)
    • Page numbers included
  • Required structure:
    • Background: Brief context of the topic, relevant literature or theoretical framing, why this research matters
    • Aims: Clear research question(s), objectives or hypotheses
    • Methods: Study design, participants and recruitment, data collection methods, planned analyses
    • (Anticipated) results: Expected findings, potential implications, limitations or challenges
Case Study Requirements

If you are submitting a case study, please note that the structure differs from a research proposal.

A case study typically includes:

  • Context and background of the case
  • Description of the situation or clinical scenario
  • Key dilemmas, decisions, or interventions
  • Reflections, outcomes, and learning points

Presentation Format during Masterclasses

 

Each presenter will take part in a masterclass session. The format is designed to encourage both structured presentation and interactive learning.

 

  • Time allocation:
    • 20 minutes for your presentation
    • 10 minutes for interactive discussion with faculty and peers
    • Please ensure your presentation fits comfortably within the 20-minute limit so that the discussion can be meaningful and unhurried
  • Presentation materials:
    • You must use a PowerPoint presentation to accompany your talk
    • Slides should be clear, readable, and aligned with the content of your proposal or case study
    • Visuals, diagrams, and concise bullet points are encouraged
  • Preparation and peer engagement: 
    • Read all other proposals or case studies submitted by participants in the same masterclass group
    • Come prepared with questions, comments, or reflections for your peers
    • Engage actively during the discussion portion of each presentation
